JAZZ: Saturday 16th February Empirical and Muntu Valdo
Exploring the African Roots of Jazz through Conversation, Demonstration and Participation
Empirical are an upcoming jazz ensemble based in London. They have won numerous awards in the past year and have been hailed by Courtney Pine as the most exciting jazz band to come out of the UK. www.myspace.com/empiricalmusic

VISUAL ARTS: Saturday 16th March Gloria Ojulari Sule
A tour through the world of Contemporary African Art and an opportunity to work on a canvas to take home.
Gloria is a Community Artist based in Bristol who exhibits, undertakes commissions of all kinds - paintings, installations, street art - and facilitates workshops throughout the UK. www.gloarts.co.uk
WRITTEN/SPOKEN WORD: Saturday 12th April Rommi Smith
Creative writing, drama activities and discussion that will look at issues of justice and human rights for Africa and African people worldwide.
Rommi is a poet and playwright. She has held numerous residencies both nationally and internationally, including most recently, Parliamentary Writer in residence. This role involved an exploration of the Parliamentary act to abolish the slave trade. This is the first post of its kind in history. www.rommi-smith.co.uk
All workshops will run from 10.30am-3.30pm at Bernie Grant Arts Centre, Tottenham. As they are part of a three year European Union funded project, we are able to offer them at a cost of only £5 per participant. Limited places, please book early to avoid disappointment.
