PADEAP SEMINAR ON HIV/AIDS WITH SOMALI WOMEN

PADEAP Uganda held a meeting on HIV/AIDS with Women from the Somali Community living in Uganda that was facilitated by the Uganda Youth Anti Aids Association. At the meeting which was more of an information session, one thing was found out, That most participants were not aware of the HIV/AIDS Situation in Uganda.

The facilitators were tasked to explain the HIV/AIDS situation in Uganda.

Sexual Reproductive Health

Uganda is one of the countries in the world with poorest youth reproductive status. Health is not absence of sickness but the whole social, psychological well being.

What is Reproductive Health

This is the total physical, social, pychosocial well being of individuals resulting from proper functioning of their reproductive systems and its processes.

Sexual health refers to the ability of individual to have mutually beneficial and satisfying and consented sexual relationship.

Life planning skills

These are abilities that can be acquired and utilized by individuals to overcome challenges in their own lives as well as those they face in the communities they live

Meeting Evaluation

As most of the participants were not very informed on HIV/AIDS and reproductive health issues it was agreed that PADEAP should hold a series of sensitization seminars with the Somali community in the near future

The number of participants were 30.
